I.16.5 Pompeii. Found on 26th September 1957 in a cubiculum on the south side of the atrium
Small bronze representing a bearded male, with his arms stretched forward and his hands outstretched.
In his left hand holding the stem of a poppy in bud with its leaves, while the right hand, left without its attribute, shows his empty palm.
The figure was detached just above the waist-line and laid on a thin bronze plate, cut out into an eight-pointed star scheme; of these tips, four are arranged diagonally and are sharp, and the other four, interspersed with these, are blunt and with rounded edges.
This was found, with many other bronzes, near to the wooden parts of an armarium.
Parco Archeologico di Pompeii. Inventory number 11471.
See Elia, O. Bacco Fanciullo e Dioniso Chtonio a Pompei. Bollettino d'Arte 1961, Fasc. I-II, (p.4, figs.5-6).

I.16.5 Pompeii. Small bronze bust of smiling satyr.
From the same room as the previous finding, and on the same day, the bronze bust had been found, depicting a satyr holding in his arms, a fleece (?) or a basket full of fruit.
The satyr turns up his laughing face, slightly leaning towards his left shoulder, the head of bunches of grapes, vine-leaves and branch of ivy make up a strange and lavish hairstyle.
The small bronze, which originally would have been an artistic part of furniture, probably of the bull (toro?) of a bed or a strong-box, has a maximum height of m.0.095 with a width of m.0.085.
Parco Archeologico di Pompeii. Inventory number 11872.
It was probably part of all the set of equipment, preserved/stored in the armarium
See Elia, O. Bacco Fanciullo e Dioniso Chtonio a Pompei. Bollettino d'Arte 1961, Fasc. I-II, (p.5, fig.7).
